With complex physical and chemical reaction happening in a blast furnace during the smelting process of pig iron, it is difficult for operators to understand what have happened in the blast furnace in time. So the operation of blast furnace is basically dependant on the operators' experience in a long time. To know fully and accurately all kind of phenomena and status of the blast furnace has been the blast furnace operators' purpose for many years. To get the temperature profile and burden distribution profile timely and accurately is the fundamental problem to operate the blast furnace efficiently.According to the product requirement, LianGang 2200m3 blast furnace infrared image identification and processing system is carried out based on artificial intelligent theory and method in this paper. It makes a model of temperature profile of burden surface and a model of burden distribution by the advanced techniques such as digital image process, information fusion and intelligent detection and so on, combined with all kind of parameters of control and status of process, by which the information of temperature profile and burden distribution of blast furnace are presented.In this paper, the infrared image identification and processing system of the LianGang 2200m3 blast furnace is introduced from the angle of engineering application. Firstly, by analyzing the produce process art, the system architecture of the infrared image identification and processing system of the LianGang 2200m3 blast furnace is proposed combined with the infrared camera, infrared image adapter, industrial computer and industrial network. Secondly, the design of the application software is presented. Then based on the model of temperature profile and the model of burden distribution, monitoring the temperature profile and burden distribution on line is implemented by some techniques such as database technique, OPC communication and OpenGL for three-dimensional display.With the implement of this project, it can provide the operator some important parameters to judge the blast furnace's status, direct theadjustment of burden distribution, improve the blast energy distribution and help to deal with abnormal situation to ensure the blast furnace's high production and low consumption and optimize the production of the blast.
