In order to obtain the excellent photo and electro-luminescent lanthanide complexes, Two series of new Eu(â…¢) complexes with metal complexes as the second ligand were prepared in this parper. The structure characters and PL properties of these complexes were fully described. We also investigated the Uv-vis spectra and electrochemical character of the two Zinc shiff base complexes. And their energy levers were calculated . Three three-layer EL diodes were prepared using Eu(TTA)3Zn(S4).H2O as emitting material, their EL properties were described briefly.1. Eight Zinc shiff base complexes ligands: Zn(Sn) (S1 = N,N-disalicydene ethylene diamine; S2 = N,N-disalicydene (1, 2) — propylene diamine; S3 = N,N-disalicydene (1, 3) —propylene diamine; S4 = N,N-disalicydene diaminocyclohexane) and Zn(Fn) (F1 = N,N-divanillindene ethylene diamine; F2 = N,N-divanillindene (1,2) —propylene diamine; F3 = N,N-divanillindene ( 1 , 3 ) — propylene diamine; F4 = N,N-divanillindene diaminocyclohexane). Using these Zinc shiff base complexes as the second ligands, TTA (2-Thenoyltrifluoroacetone) as the first ligands eight new heteronuclear Eu(â…¢) complexes were synthesized. The crystal analysis results of Eu(TTA)2Zn(F2).Cl.H2O, Eu(TTA)2Zn(F3).Cl.H2O and Eu(TTA)2Zn(F4).Cl.H2O indicated that the Zn(â…¡) and the Eu(â…¢) are bridged by the two oxygen atoms of the phenolic group. The domination of the 5D0â†'7F2 in those complexes is a typical feature that no inversion center is occupied by Eu3+ ion which is in good agreement with the structure analysis result. Although the Zinc shiff base complexes can emit blue fluorescence, the emission spectra of the heteronuclear Eu(â…¢) complexes only show the characteristic emission of the Eu(â…¢) ion, without any trace of Zinc shiff base complexes emission, which illustrates that the efficient energy transfer from Zinc shiff base complexes moiety to Eu(â…¢) ion. The quantum yield of all the heteronuclear Eu(â…¢) complexes enhanced compared with Eu(TTA)3·2H2O, which indicates that the Zinc shiff base complexes have strong antenna effect to the red emission of Eu3+ ion.2. We investigated the electrochemical character of Eu(TTA)3Zn(S2).H2O and Eu(TTA)2Zn(F3).Cl.H2O. And their energy levers were calculated .
