Heavy honing technique is a kind of machining way that has high efficiency. It is different from conventional honing in practical machining and honing principle. It is a new way of machining. The material of the workpiece on which the experiments were carried is 45# steel. The viewpoint about critical pressure was raised, the comprehension of heavy honing technique was strengthened, the mathematical model of honing force was set up based on conventional honing theory. The traditional calculative formula of honing force was corrected and tested with experiments. Honing parameters are consist of feed pressure (Pc), cutting rotary velocity (Vr) and cutting reciprocate velocity. How the honing parameters influence the cutting ability was researched in the article. Cutting ability was evaluated by those parameters such as the velocity of cutting metal, the wearing velocity of oil stone, the honing ratio, the consumed energy of honing ratio, honing force and so on. And detailed the influence of the feed pressure of cylinder, cutting velocity and rigidity of oilstone to cutting ability. The influence of cylinder feed pressure to the consumed energy of honing ratio also was discussed in the article singly. At last a set of honing technical parameter was attained by tests.The research of honing force supports theoretical base for power design of honing machine. As designer of machine we can know more about the honing parameters from the article. Also the research can guide customers to work. So we will gain more and more customers and create more economy value.
