In recent years, iron and steel making industry have been developed fast in our country. The steel production has been surpassed 350 million tons, which is the first place of the whole world, and it much more than the summation of the second, the third and the fourth steel making country. Steel industry by way of resource and energy intensive enterprises were proved to be big power consumer, and the energy consumption is about 16% of the whole country energy consumption, but the comparable energy consumption per ton of steel production is about 20% higher than developed country. Energy source increasingly became one of the main restrict choke points for health and sustainable development of our iron and steel making industry.A Large numbers of energy devoted in steel production process with the main purpose is creating and keep a high-temperature reaction and distortion condition, and a majority of that energy has transferred into secondary energy, which released without any recovery. The important approach to decrease energy consumption in iron and steel enterprise is recycling of second energy effectively. Large high-temperature flue gas from variety of metallurgy industry possessed huge potential of energy recycle using, but it is difficult to reuse converter flue gas efficiently, owing to the instability and technology complexity.In this study, we have systematic analysis the basic characteristic of flue gas. Moreover, two typical technologies for waste heat recovery of flue gas have been comparatively analysised, and concluded the advantages as well as disadvantages. To the 25-ton converter steel equipment of the No 1 steelmaking plant of Jigang, design calculation model, based on different pipe diameter as well as heat exchange mode, the simulated calculation results pointed out that the radiation heat exchange give priority to the whole heat exchange process, and increased the pipe diameter have greatly effected the whole heat exchange.
