Using Carbide Slag Desulfurization Experimental Research

SO₂ from combustion of coal is the most serious air pollutant. As Guizhou coal contains higher sulfur,gas from coal burning needs more treatment.Therefore, desulphurization is a important technology which can reduces SO₂ effectively.Most of the desulfurizers are calcium-based in flue gas desulfurization technology,and limestone is common and inexpensive in the calcium-based raw materials. Using limestone as the desulfurizer not only needs exploitation of limestone but destroys the natural landscape. What we think about is whether we can use carbide slag as the calcium-based desulfurizer instead. This way not decreases exploitation of limestone but makes good waste utilization.This paper makes researches on carbide slag desulphurization.China produces the most calcium carbide in the world, and she also produces a great deal of Industrial Solid Waste—carbide slag at the same time. It is so necessary to study on the treatment of carbide slag. Carbide slag can be the raw material of desulfurizer for its major substance is calcium hydroxide .which can be as the raw material of desulfurizer. With the development of the society, the problem of environment attracts more and more attention of the government.In the research ,we take the dry carbide slag and liquid-residue,coal and the gas of sulfur dioxide as raw materials. By calcining the dried carbide slag mixed with coal and some additives , we know the best burning temperature, the additive selection and the proportion.We make analysis on the raw materials and products by using the methods of DTA/TG and XRD.The fresh carbide slag liquid's pH can meet the requirement We use the pump to drive the carbide slag liquid to gunite port of the swirl board scrubber ,and blow the mix gas of SO₂ which meet the requirement below part of the circle flow tower, at the same time.so we can get the best condition of the value of PH, proportion of the liquid and gas and the quantity of the wind blown into by fan.The result of the experiments shows that the carbide slag which is dealt properly can be the desulfurizer to clean gas from burning coal.
