Carbide slag is the waste residue of industrial production in producing PVC,C2H2and so on. The carbide slag’s main ingredient is Ca(OH)2, if we not properly deal with and directly pile up,it will pollute soil and underground water.In circulation fluidized bed boiler, desulfurizer(limestone) is calcined which form some lacunaris calcium oxide, and those particle and sulphur dioxide react into calcium sulphate.Carbide slag is less particle diameter and more active than limestone particle, so carbide slag instead of limestone to be desulfurizer not only can attain the same desulfurization effect,but also can solve the problem of itself pollution.This paper, firstly, introduced the situation of comprehensive utilizing carbide slag,the harm and character of SO2,and actually desulfurization in China. The feasibility and necessity of carbide slag desulfurization was proposed.Secondly, expirement on desulfurization mechanism was done by thermal gravimetric analysis(TGA) at different temperatures, different heating rates and different atmosphere.Thirdly, paper calculated the reaction activation energy of the carbide slag and calcium carbonate decomposing into calcium oxide and calcium oxide absorbing sulfur dioxide.Finally, the carbide slag was putted into the CFB to observe influence on desulfurization efficiency on different experimental conditions, the result was satisfactory.
