1. Effects of Magnetic Field on Properties of Poly (o-toluidine)The Poly-o-toluidine (POT) was prepared under different magnetization in solution containing 0.5 mol dm-3 o-toluidine and 1.0 mol dm-3 HCl, respectively. Their conductivity, UV-vis, FTIR spectra and x-ray diffraction (XRD) were investigated. The results of conductivity showed that magnetic field do obvious effect to conductivity of POT. The effect also can make the energy gaps for theπ-π* transitions and quinoid ring transition in UV-vis narrow. At high magnetization the peaks of POT due to Q-NH+-B or B-NH+-B and C-H out of plane on 1,4-ring or 1,2,4-ring disappeared in FTIR spectra. Meantime, magnetic field scarcely affects the crystallinity of POT.2. Their conductivity, UV-vis, FTIR spectra, x-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were investigated. The results of conductivity showed that the cooperative effect of Dy3+ and magnetic field do obvious effect to conductivity of POT. Meantime, they also can make the energy gaps for theπ-π* transitions and quinoid ring transition in UV-vis narrow. At high magnetization the peaks of POT due to Q-NH+-B or B-NH+-B and C-H out of plane on 1,4-ring or 1,2,4-ring disappeared in FTIR spectra. Magnetic field and Dy3+ can make three dimensions morphologies of the POT clear but they scarcely affect the crystallinity of POT. 3. Effects of Ionic Liquid and Lanthanum Chloride on Properties of Poly (o-toluidine)The Poly-o-toluidine was synthesized by chemical process in a new system contained a kind of ionic liquid. The conductivity, UV-vis, FTIR spectra of POT were investigated. The results of conductivity showed that with just ionic liquid, the conductivity of product could hardly be improved. However, high concentration of ionic liquid can influence the energy gaps for the quinoid ring transitions in UV-vis. With high concentration of ionic liquid in the solution, the peak of POT due to N-Q-N and C-N in FTIR spectra disappeared.Then, in a new system contained LaCl3 and ionic liquid, the Poly-o-toluidine of high conductivity (10.14 S·cm-1) was synthesized by chemical process. The conductivity, UV-vis, FTIR spectra, x-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) were investigated. The results of conductivity showed that the cooperative effect of La3+ and ionic liquid could obviously improve the conductivity of POT. Meantime, they also can influence the energy gaps for theπ-π* and quinoid ring transitions in UV-vis. The peak of POT doped with La3+ due to Q-NH+-B or B-NH+-B shifts to longer wavelength in FTIR spectra in the presence of ionic liquid. La3+ and ionic liquid hardly affect the crystallinity of POT.
