With the development of membrane structure architecture, the demand of membrane materials is rapidly increasing. However, production and product quality of enterprises are out of order, and engineering staffs have no principle to select products due to shortage of membrane technique standards and engineering designation criteria in China. In the recent years, membrane structure destruction frequently happened because the technique is jejune in performance testing of membrane materials and checking & accepting of membrane structure, so that safety hidden trouble exists in engineering of membrane structure architecture. Therefore, to develop a set of integrated membrane materials quality standards and engineering designation criteria is urgent affairs. In order to instruct product exploitation and quality improvement of membrane materials made in China, membrane materials shall be systemically and deeply researched to form industrial and national standards.In this subject, products are classified according to characteristics, craft, performance, usage, etc. through investigation & research, collecting documents and knowing about designation and technical requirement in various fields. And then the intrinsic performances of membrane materials and their test methods are determinated. Technique specifications are confirmed by testing and statistically analyzing types of membrane materials. Main contents of research are as follows:1. To confirm test standards and methods for 4 basic physical parameters including mass per area, total thickness, coating thickness and bias filling.2. To confirm the parameters in the test methods for tensile strength, tear strength and coating adhension strength. The coherence relationship between tensile strength and tear strength is found by using one-dimensional regression analytical method, regression equation is listed.Additionally the factors affecting these properties are gotten by testing and comparing&analyzing statistically types of membrane materials, many useful conclusions are drawn by analyzing above factors.3. As main points of innovation in this subject, 4 functionality method standards are researched and developed, including luminous transmittance, stain release, liquid wicking and resistance to low temperature.(1) Test method and principle of luminous transmittance within full wavelength of visible light are confirmed by analyzing in calculation equation and parameters.(2) Test method for stain release applying to membrane materials are confirmed by preparing staining source and taking account of simpleness and reproducibility.(3) Test method for liquid wicking property applying to membrane materials are confirmed by selecting test liquid and observation method for liquid wicking height.(4) Test method for resistance to low temperature applying to membrane materials are confirmed by selecting determination of low temperature performance and cold crack temperature. 4. The suggestion on specification for assessing indexes of various products is proposed by testing 11 items, comparing and analyzing test datum. The preliminary draft of Quality Standard Manual of Membrane Materials is compiled.
