Magnesium alloys have been widely used as the light materials in the aviation, automotive and electronic industry due to their low density, high specific strength, specific stiffness, fine damping capacity, good shielding properties. On the other hand, wrought magnesium alloy based on microstructure refinement is the chief orientation in enhancing the strength and deformability of Mg alloys. In this paper, based on finishing the study of twin-roll casting technology, the twin-roll casting strip billet was rolled into thin strip. Studying the rolling methods, effect of hot-rolling on the microstructure and the mechanical properties, the effection of addition of RE. and a serials of results were obtained as follows:(1) AZ61 magnesium alloy sheets obtains the best structure properties after 400℃×70% hot rolling through the hot rolling experiment and the structure property examination. the tensile strength is 290Mpa, the elongation ratio is 18.9%.(2) The research indicated that the hot rolling temperature is higher, nucleus amount of dynamic recrystallization was increased and more grains were refined. When low temperature (300℃-350℃) hot rolling, distortion main depends slipping, with the increasing of deformation ratio the twin crystals organization increased.(3)The rare-earth element can enhance the hot rolling performance of AZ61 magnesium alloy, refine hot rolling organizes, enhance the mechanical properties of AZ61 magnesium alloy.(4) The AZ61 magnesium alloy's structure properties is improved along with rare-earth element content's increase, when the content achieves 0.8%, its microstructure and the performance achieve high.
