Pesticide is a single substance and mixture of preventing, killing and controlling any pest, and including plant growth regulator, preservative and many other chemical agents. China is a large agricultural country. The agriculture population occupies about 60%-70% in all the national population. Agriculture regards a foundation as the industry, underpinning the growth of China's national economy. However, our country is country of agricultural pest frequently-occurring; the pesticides' application has an important stabilizing force and increased output on the grain production. Shanxi Province is an agricultural big province of central China. Pesticides' application began since the 1950s. Over 180 kinds of chemical pesticide have been widely applied in Shanxi Province, with the annual considerable controlling area and economic benefits. But as a double-edged sword, pesticide exists the insecticidal activity and sterilization, meanwhile, the high toxicity and fatalness. In Shanxi even in China, due to pesticides' application, the negative impacts on humans and animals, water, soil, atmosphere and so many other aspects is worth paying close attention and further thinking. This paper explores into the people of suffering some negative consequences owing to use the agricultural pesticides in Shanxi Province, which is made up of four chapters.The first part, development process of pesticides' application. To begin with, the author explains the development history of pesticides' application in Shanxi Province since the 1950s, from the changes of pesticides' application, the development of pesticides' research, the statistics of pesticides' dosage, and other aspects; secondly, the author describes the development history of pesticides' management and supervise, from the construction of regulations, the register and marketing management, the quality and residue test of pesticide, and other aspects. The overview can show the basic information of pesticides' application in Shanxi Province.The second part, stating and analyzing some cases of negative environmental consequences by widely pesticides' application in Shanxi Province. Chronically, continuously and largely absurd application of pesticides results in many typical cases of negative environmental consequences. On the one hand, the effects on biology containing the humans. The paper enumerated and analyzed several typical cases on the negative impact of plants, animals and humans by pesticides' application, in Shanxi Province. Specially taking Jinzhong City in Shanxi Province as an example, the author typically analyzes the nature, agriculture production and situation of pesticides' application, in addition, shows the pesticide hazard by the typical toxicosis incident in 1605. On the other hand, the effects on soil, water and atmosphere. The thesis also takes examples of the typical cases in Shanxi Province and analyzes it.The third part, analyzing the before and after attitude of government and common people on the negative environmental consequences. Because of the pesticides' application, environmental events belong to emergent events of public health by the nature. Before and after the events, the government and the public attitude towards the use of pesticides which have changed. In this section, the article starts by describing that the government work to promote, supervise and detect before the negative environmental consequences, also the changes of attitude and coping behaviors after the events. Then, the author states the changes of the people before and after the events in terms of the purpose, awareness of environment and other aspects, from the motivation of pesticides' application. As rural residents, they mostly connected with the environmental events. However, because of different reasons, the rural residents do not pay more attention to the agricultural environment and rural environment. It is also a current problem confronted by rural areas. So through study of it is great practical significance for improving the agricultural and rural environment.The fourth part, the summary from the perspective of environmental history. There is no denying that pesticide is the most important agricultural production data, and plays an important role in increasing food production. But the negative impacts of environment can not be neglected. When studying this problem, the importance should be attached to the various people groups who are in it. Also their changes of attitude and coping behaviors are the eternal research contents of environmental history.
