AB5—Type Ce-Ni based hydrogen storage alloys are promissing candidates for reversible hydrogen storage becanse of their high discharge capacities,easy activation and good hydrogen pressure.In this paper, Ni-Ce alloy was prepared by the method of electro-deoxidation. The mixture of NiO-CeO2 was applied as cathode in the process of electro-deoxidation. And a high density graphite was applied as anode. The electrolyte was the CaCl2-NaCl salt and the working voltage was 3.4v. The influences of Replacing element in Ce-Ni based hydrogen storage alloys on the electrochemical properties and the hydrogen storage properties were studied.In the experimental, the effects of compacted pressures, sintering temperatures, sintering duration and electrolytic temperatures, for the electro-deoxidation process were investigated by SEM, XRD, current curves, porosity and the oxygen content. The products of the electro-deoxidation were examined by XRD. The oxygen contents of the prepared products were determined by weighing the metal samples before and after re-oxidation in oxygen atmosphere.The oxygen content for electrolytic product of pellet mixed with ball milling and sintered at 1200℃for 5h and electrolyzed at 900℃for 12h could be increased.
