The paper analyses the principle, strategy and economic adaptability of reactive power compensation. A low-voltage intelligent reactive power compensation controller based on TSC (Thyristor Switched Capacitance) has been designed for the present electrical power market. In hardware Design, TMS320LF2407 DSP (Digital Signal Processing) is used in the controller, which carries out the function such as sampling and calculating, regulating the reactive power automatically, giving an alarm and protection in case of faults, data saving etc. Multi-frequency circuit is applied to track electric harmonic. The cast-cut equipment uses compound switch which composed of contactor and thyristor. A zero triggered circuit is used to restrict the inrush current. In software design, the paper presents the whole project on the embedded Real Time Operation System μC/OS-Ⅱ, it also detailedly describes the porting of μC/OS-Ⅱ on TMS320LF2407, the arrangement of the function and the mission scheduling. In communication design, a wireless communication system that adopting the combination of PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) and SMS(Short Message Service) is presented. PDA is used for the history data's collection, SMS is used for the small amount data transmission, such as real-time control and data exchange.Experiment results reveal that the controller possesses of reasonable design and steady performance, it can realize the function anticipanted.
