Objective:1. To establish the drawing-line theory in the Psychology field in terms of TCM and corresponding methodology.2. To set up detailed measurements to the drawing-line test which is less time-consuming and easier to carry out with less confounding factors so as to analyze clinical problems like anxiety from tests quantitatively.3. To assess the qi movement and emotion variation induced by different stimulus quantitatively, using the drawing-line test and its applying value.4. To expand the theoretical framework of Psychology of TCM, and to lay the foundation for<<psychometric of TCM>>.Methods:1. Theoretical derivation and deduction:Theory and methods of psychological tests of TCM were established with theoretical assumption, deduction, reasoning and other methods after combination of qi movement theory, theory of emotion in Traditional Chinese medicine and the cognitive theory, subconscious theory and psychological projection theory of modern psychology.2. Investigation:drawing-lines tests were performed several times before and after psychological counseling offered by our group on students in and around the earthquake zones from different universities and middle schools, farmers and workers gathered in tents.Enlightened by the cold or hot coffee test at Yale University, we asked the recruiters (college students) to take the drawing-line test before and after taking one cup of cold and another cup of hot coffee, before and after foot nursing on the issue of anxiety before examination to explore verifiability and applicability of the test. We also did the test on some students with clod and hot stimulus to study the qi movement variation after incitation.3. Mathematical analysis:Lines drawn before and after stimulation were analyzed and scores of the factors on the drawing-line test were marked. Data were collected and compared by SPSS 17.0.Results:1. Concept of drawing-line test in the psychology field of TCM was raised up including lines of the test and assessment method to the qi movement and the emotion classification based on the existing scoring system.2. Evaluation methods and principles of drawing-lines test were established and understanding of the test-related factors under the theory of Psychology in TCM was discussed. By reasoning, summarizing, descriptively analyzing the philosophical and medical knowledge of qi in TCM and western psychological theories, we analyzed the interactive relationship between qi movement and the emotional change and found out that Qi and qi movement is an important foundation of the emotion theory of Psychology in TCM.3. The Kelangbaha a reliability coefficient of drawing-line test on the Application Research of sex differences on anxiety before exams was 0.8896, indicating that girls are more easily to get anxious than boys. Differences between adult students and juvenile students in terms of anxiety before exams were also analyzed.4. Results of the qi movement Research exhibited significant differences before and after the cold-heat stimulation with the qi movement measured by scores of drawing-line test. This experiment reliability analysis Cronbach's value in the above 0.35, P> 0.05 index, The two groups in the test were of certain reliability and validity and no significant difference existed in the overall scores. It was of equivalent effect to evaluate on point and linear factors.Discussion:1. Drawing-line test is a new measuring tool for qi movement and theory of emotions in TCM, combining both TCM idea and methods of western psychological tests, providing a new way for the development of Psychology of TCM.2. Drawing-line test is better than the Rorschach Inkblot Method in these three aspects, namely, quantification, simplicity and timesaving.3. We are quite confident in the prospect of drawing-line test after our experiment on anxiety before exams and obtaining the three tendencies:emotional projection, simplicity and rapid, non-interference of test.4. For the first time, measurement to the qi movement and concept of cold-heat stimulation are set up and a practical way to assess the qi movement quantitatively is established.5. Every theory has its defects, so does this one. The drawing-line test theory is still naive, rough and not very objective with some limitations in its application. More work is needed to better the theory.
