Application Research Of Projective Drawing Test In College Students’ Depression Assessment

The mental health assessment of college students is the premise and foundation of the mental health work.In order to provide more targeted mental health education and psychological assistance,the psychological screening of college students is essential.At present,self-report scale is the most commonly used tool.Although self-report scale has unique advantages in structure and scoring,its test purpose is easy to be exposed,and respondents tend to conceal and make false answers.In this aspect,the technique of painting projection can be a good complement.In this study,depression,a mental health problem with a high incidence rate,was selected as the research direction.By conducting questionnaire survey and drawing projection test on college students,the current situation of college students’depression was understood,and the possibility of drawing projection test for evaluating college students’depression was discussed.In this study,480 students from a university in Jiangsu province were recruited as the research objects,and a questionnaire survey on depression and a drawing projection test were conducted between September and October 2018 in a group test.The questionnaire used flow center and depression scale,and the painting proj ection test used tree painting and rain man painting.Firstly,the drawing analysis software is used to analyze the drawing.Then,according to the literature and relevant research,combined with expert opinions,50 characteristics in tree painting and 34 characteristics of people in the rain are selected to analyze and judge the painting.According to the questionnaire scores,the depression group and the normal group were distinguished,and the statistical results of drawing characteristics of the two groups were analyzed by x2 test and Logistic regression analysis,and a regression equation capable of diagnosing depression is established.The results show that:(1)The total score of the depression scale of college students is 15.61±8.491,and the detection rate of depression is 46.8%,which is at a high level.Left-behind experience,grade,major,professional satisfaction,and mother’s education level are all factors influencing college students’ depression.Students with left-behind experience have higher depression level than those without left-behind experience,and students who are dissatisfied with their major have higher depression level than those who are satisfied with their major and feel normal.The difference in grades is reflected in the higher depression scores of juniors compared with freshmen and seniors.The difference in majors is that liberal arts students had higher levels of depression than science and medicine students.The difference of mothers’education level is reflected in the interpersonal dimension score of depression scale.The depression level of students whose mothers’education is high school or technical secondary school is higher than that of students whose mothers’ education is junior high school or lower,and those whose mothers’ education is undergraduate or junior college.(2)Through the analysis of picture analysis software,there are differences between the depression group and the normal group in the six painting indexes of tree canopy area,canopy height,canopy width,trunk area,trunk width and total area of trees,as well as the three painting indexes of raindrop direction,number and average length.The mean values of canopy area,height,width,trunk area,width and total area of trees in the depression group are all lower than those in the normal group.The depression group is more likely to have raindrops from the right side,and the number of raindrops is positively correlated with the depression score,while the average length of raindrops is negatively correlated with the depression score.(3)There are significant differences in the characteristics of 14 paintings in the tree painting test.Painted respectively T2(black),T4(intermittent lines),T5(shallow lines),T13(dead tree),T14(tree stump or truncated tree)and T15(single line of trees),T18(burl),T19(flattened crown)and T20(crown contour serrated),T24(drooping canopy sides),T25(crown internal coated with shadow),T31(the top of the tree trunk atresia),T33(intermittent trunk contour),T37(open roots).Among them,T2,T18,T19,T24,T31,T33 and T37 entered the regression equation,and the ROC curve showed that the equation fitted well,which is a good predictor of depression.(4)There are significant differences in the characteristics of 16 paintings in the rain painting test.Are R1(simple screen),R2(black),R4(broken lines),R5(light lines),R6(repeated lines),R7(too small or too big),R11(lightning),R12(ground water),R16(character large or small)and R17(character sides or rear),R18(head body scale inconsistency),R19(depicting detailed hair),R22(no mouth),R31(good effect shelter),R32(camouflage effect is bad),R34(street lamp).Three of the indicators(R7,R18,R31)were reverse indicators,and the frequency of the normal group was higher than that of the depression group The regression equation included 12 items,including R1,R2,R4,R5,R7,R115 R12,R16,R17,R19,R22 and R32.Among them,R7 reversed predicted depression.The ROC curve showed that the equation fitted well.These 12 indicators can be used as indicators to predict depression.To conclude,the detection rate of depression in college students is high,which should be paid more attention to in the work of mental health.It is feasible for drawing analysis software to evaluate the drawing characteristics of drawing projection test,and drawing projection test can be used as an auxiliary tool for depression assessment of college students.
