Objective: The purpose of the present study was to assess left ventricular long axis systolic function in patients with Dilated Cardiomyopathy via mid-point of mitral annular normalized displacement (MAND-midpt) by technique of Tissue Mitral Annular Displacement (TMAD). Methods: Thirty DCM cases and thirty-three healthy cases were investigated using echocardiography. To obtain image of apical four-chamber view and apical two-chamber view , measured mitral annular displacement(MAD) and MAND-midpt by technique of TMAD, and the linear correlations between EF and MAD,and EF and MAND-midpt were calculated. Results: MAD of four point was significantly lower in Group DCM than in Group healthy subjects (P=0.000) and MAND-midpt of two view was significantly lower in Group DCM than in Group healthy subjects (P=0.000) as well. The linear correlation (r) was found to be higher between EF and MAND-midpt (r=0.564-0.747, P<0.05) than between EF and MAD (r=0.410-0.459, P<0.05). Conclusions: The higher correlation between EF and MAND-midpt than between EF and MAD shows that MAND-midpt is a good index of LV Long Axis systolic function.
