| Objective: To approach the electro-acupuncture therapy have effect for depression on cognitive function improvement. Methods: 93 cases of first-episode patients with depression diagnosed in department of Psychiatry, in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University, were randomly divided into (electro-acupuncture group) of 48 cases receiving paroxetine plus electro-acupuncture and (pure drug treatment group) of 45 cases doing single pure paroxetine. clinical efficacy and the improvement of cognitive function were assessed with the Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) and the event related potentials (ERPs) P300 before treatment and at the end of the 4th week treatment. And nanalysis on zhe results were carried out by applying SSPS 11.5 softwares. Through t test, rank-sum test,χ2 test to approach the electro-acupuncture therapy have effect for depression on cognitive function improvement. Results: At the end of the 4th week, effective rates were respectively 89.6% in electro-acupuncture group compared with pure drug treatment group of 80% (P < 0.05). the total scores of the HAMD and the latency of P300 lowered significantly at the end of the 4th week in the two groups (P < 0.05); the P300 amplitude were significantly hoisted than pretreatment in two group (P < 0.05); after treatment, the P300 amplitude of electro-acupuncture group was significantly higher than have pure drug treatment group (P < 0.05), the P300 latency of electro-acupuncture group was significantly lower than pure drug treatment group (P<0.05). Conclusion: electro-acupuncture therapy have significant synergies for depression on cognitive function improvement. |
