Research On The Structure Of "n₁ ('s) N₂"

The whole thesis can be divided into the syntactic investigation of "N1 ('s) N2", and the ambiguity investigation of "N1 ('s) N2" which are analyzed from the aspect of syntax and pragmatic.The first part is mainly analysis the lower structure of "N1 ('s) N2",which is described into the characteristic of "N1's N2"(type A),that is the possessive relations (type A1) and the property relations(type A2),and the characteristic of "N1N2"(type B),that is the possessive relations (type B1),the parity relations (type B2),the parallel relations(type B3) and the predicate relations(type B4).The second part is mainly from the angle of the static context and the dynamic context,which not only analyze the possessive relation of type B in the dynamic context,that is type B5,but also analyze the phenomenon of the ambiguity of "N1 ('s) N2".The thesis is about to analyze type A and type B in the same situation, which is different from seniors who focus on analyzing the inner structure of the former. What's more, writer describes the structure of both the former and the latter, which is not focus on lower analyzing the inner semantic of type A, or absolutely neglect the discussion of type B,but to make a deeper description to each nature features, such as life degree and alleged of the composition. Especially type B which contains the parallel relations, the parity relations and the predicate relations, not only analyzes and describes, but also on the basis, describe the phenomenon of the ambiguity, and handle the disambiguation. In the writer's opinion, it can do great help to understand the structure, and both analyze and handle the ambiguity, if we treat the structure comprehensively and partly.In fact, the interior of the thesis in the method of analysis, implied analysis theory of both static context and dynamic context to analyze the structure of "N1 ('s) N2", which analyze the character of "N1 ('s) N2" and its phenomenon of ambiguity first, and then analyze the relationship and the phenomenon of ambiguity between type A and type B.In addition, in part of ambiguity description of "N1 ('s)N2", seniors hold different opinions, such as Xu Yangchuan(2003),who consider the inner ambiguity of the possessive relations, and two kind of ambiguity phenomenon between the possessive relations and the property relations; Xiao Guoping (1996) analyzes the phenomenon of ambiguity on the syntactic level, such as, the ambiguity between the parallel relations and the modifier relations, the ambiguity between the parity relations and the modifier relations. And the writer summarize her own opinion:to the modifier relations of type A which contains ambiguity, exists at least two semantic explanations of the possessive relations and the possessive relations; but type B exists ambiguity in different kinds of syntax structures and two different levels in the modifier relations.In the end, the thesis also makes disambiguation to type B with different kinds of methods, such as voice constraint, semantic constraint and context constraint. The writer chooses these disambiguation methods selectively, and handles the disambiguation of all kinds of ambiguities and phrase individually, to propose some views to understand the structure.
