This paper attempts to study Xiao Qian's reportage comprehensively and systematically. On this basis,it tries to make an assessment on the valuation of Xiao Qian's reportage in the history of China reportage and the limitation of Xiao Qian's reportage objectively and reasonably.In this paper, the author studies Xiao Qian's reportage from the perspective of the historic development of China reportage and discusses his reportage from three dimensions. Firstly, this paper analyzes the emotional strength. Xiao Qian's reportage is based on the humanism as emotional foundation, runs through the parriotic feelings.Secondly, this paper explores the rational pursuit of Xiao Qian's reportage. Proceeding from the reform of China's reality, Xiao Qian advocated the right to free speech and a free press, democracy and rule of law on the protection of human rights, which are all what Xiao Qian was pursued persistently in his life. Thirdly, this paper also disscusses the esthetic aim. Xiao Qian's reportage presents its special literariness that embodies different kinds of writing style and shows his original ideas, which makes the reportage still popular after a long time. Among these three dimensions, the author firstly analyzes the text and also explores the characteristics of his works through Xiao Qian's life experience and his ideas as well as the other various factors.Throughout the history of Chinese reportage, the outstanding contributions that Xiao Qian has made is important, which should not be disregarded.
