| Objective To study the therapeutic effects and parts of underlying mechanism of Yi Zhi Mixture (YZM) clinically and experimentally in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease(AD). Method and Result: The animal experiment used sixty 5-month old Wistar rats which were divided into six groups, five groups of those rats were modeled by injecting D-Galactose and then treated with NS,Piracetamand large dose of YZM, medium dose of YZM, small dose of YZM respectively and the other one group as a control group.They were observed of their capability of study and menmory after six weeks and also the content of NO, CUE, SOD,LPO and ATP was measured. The experimental result showed YZM could improve learning-memory function of aging rats models significantly, and could also increase the content of SOD, ATP, and decrease the content of NO, LPD, CHE significantly. In clinical study YZM was used in 30 cases of AD compared with control group with 25 cases treated by Piracetaxn. The clinical results showed the total effective rate was 87.6% in the experimental group and 52% in the control group (P<0.05). The scores of the HDS, MMSE, ADL, FAQ and clinical symptoms were greatly improved comparing with the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion: ? YZM in an effective medicine for treating AD. It can nourish the kidney and heart, envigorate brain and improve intelligence. The result of clinical study and experiment indicate that the therapeutic mechanism of YZM for AD probably was related to scavenging the free radical agent,increasing the content of SOD and ATP, decreasing the content of LPO and NO, CHE; relieving neuron destrution, balancing the neurotransmitter, and improving brain power metabolism etc. |
