Fengliao Changweikang, an effective prescription used to acute and chronic gastroenteritis in clinic, is composed by Polygonum Hydropiper Linn. and Daphniphyllum Calycinum Benth. It has been reported that Polygonum Hydropiper Linn., which showed antioxidant, antimicrobic, antifinfammatory activities, contained sesquiterpenoids and flavonoids mainly; Daphniphyllum Calycinum Benth. was found to have potent antioxidant, antifinfammatory activities too, from which alkaloids and flavonoids was mainly isolated. But no study on active components of Fengliao Changweikang prescription has been reported so far. In order to find the active components, chemical constituents and pharmacological activities of Fengliao Changweikang prescription were studied in this dissertation. The sample was prepared by the standard method extraction of Fengliao Changweikang prescription according to Ministory Promulgated Standard and further fractionated on macroreticular resin column with water and 30 %, 60 %, 90 % ethanol was performed to obtain four fractions. Then, by several column chromatography technologies, ten compounds have been isolated from the 30 %, 60 % and 90 % ethanol eluates. Six of them are identified as rutin, quercetin, kaempferol-3-rutinose,kaempferol, apigenin, β-sitosterol by using physical and chemical methods, as well as modern spectrum techniques. All these compounds were isolated from the prescription for the first time. The pharmacological experiments of Fengliao Changweikang extractum were studied. We found that this prescription can significantly inhibit the swelling of mouse pinna induced by xylene, markedly decrease the normal and acethlcholine-induced contraction of isolated rabbit intestinal bowel muscle, and maximum tolerable dose of Fengliao Changweikang extractum was estimated to be more than 250 g/kg. The results indicated Fengliao Changweikang extractum have anti-inflammatory, spasmolysis, analgesia activities and lower toxicity.
