Sichuan Woody Medicinal Ethnobotany And Quality Standards

Radix Vladimiriae is the dried rhizome of Vladimiria souliei (Franch.) Ling. and Vladimiria souliei (Franch.) Ling var. cinerea Ling, which can promote circulation of qi and relieve pain. Besides this, in Sichuan, it has been widely applied in Tibetan, Qiang and Yi Nationality to treat gastroenteric disorders. From the perspectives of Ethnobotany, the members of this project investigated the resource, assortment, condition of using in folk and sustainable development of Radix Vladimiriae; connected with selection of drug effect, we studied on the isolating of standard reference substance in Radix Vladimiriae, established the quality standard, and make preliminary study on the fingerprint.1 Ethnobotany Survey on Radix VladimiriaeUsing Ethnobotany method (documents research, Interview to the key men, etc) we investigated assortment, protection and utilization of resource, knew the experience of using herbs and the conditions about main growing districts (Mao'xian, Hei'shui, Xiao'jin, Ma'er'kang, etc). We collected seven vouchers; summed experience of using herbs of Tibetan and Qiang nationality and proposed the countermeasure of protection and utilization of Radix Vladimiriae.2 Screening of drug effect and Isolation Research on standard reference substanceThrough the way of pharmacology on relieving spasm and pain, we screened the position where Radix Vladimiriae affected gastrointestinal motility and relieved pain. Separating effective part by Silica Gel Column chromatography, we received two chemical compounds, one of which was identificated by the technology of UV, ~1HNMR, IR, MS.3 Quality Standard and Preliminary study on the fingerprint of Radix VladimiriaeThe quality was determined by TLC (silver nitrate folium). The content was determined by HPLC, which indexes were costunolide and dehydrocostus lactone. Furthermore, we established quality standard of Radix Vladimiriae and made preliminary study on the fingerprint of it.
