| Object: To evaluate the stricture rates of different hypospadias repairs. Methods: 532 cases of hypospadias treated with different surgical approch from Mar. 1995 to Nov. 2005 in our hospital were reviewed. Results: TIP had the similar successful rate to Mathieu onâ… andâ…¡type hypospadias(P>0.05), but had significant difference(P<0.05) about the successful rate betweenâ… ,â…¡andâ…¢type. 15(2.8%) developed urethral stricture, the stricture rates of TIP, scrotum-perineum flap and Mathieu method were 0.9%, 5.6% and 3.4% respectively, no significant difference (P>0.05). No stricture was found in Onlay or Duckett method. TIP had the highlist rate of fistulas and other complications than others. Conclusion: (1) Surgical approaches should be chosen for suitable types of hypospadias. TIP is adopted for typeâ… and typeâ…¡hypospadias, while Mathieu is used in a larger spectrum. (2) The rate of urethral stricture after TIP may be lower than traditional approaches. (3) Urethral stricture after hypospadias repair has relationship to the character of urethral scar. |
