Angelica dahurica (Fisch. ex Hoffm.) Benth. et Hook. f. var. formosana (Boiss.) Shan et Yuan is one of traditional Chinese medicines in common use with its radix. It is a member of umbelliferae.In this dissertation, studies on the chemical constituents of the root of Angelica dahurica (Fisch. ex Hoffm.) Benth. et Hook. f. var. formosana (Boiss.) Shan et Yuan which is gathered from ZheJiang Province were carried out for the first time. 21 constituents were isolated by repeated column chromatography and recrystallization. On the basis of physico-chemical properties and spectroscopic analysis, 15 constituents were identified as coumarins, sterols, aliphatic compounds, etc. They are isoimperarorin(1), imperarorin(2), bergapten(3), alloisoimperarorin(4), 5-methoxy-8-hydroxypsoralen(5), cnidilin(6), xanthotoxol (7), anhydrobyakangelicin(8), isooxypeucedanin(9), oxypeucedanin hydrate(10), byak-angelicin(11), β-sitosterol(12), stigmasterol(13), daucosterol(14), succinic acid(15). All of them were isolated from the root of Angelica dahurica (Fisch. ex Hoffm.) Benth. et Hook. f. var. formosana (Boiss.) Shan et Yuan from ZheJiang Province for the first time,and compound (8) was isolated from the root of Angelica dahurica (Fisch. ex Hoffrn.) Benth. et Hook. f. var. formosana (Boiss.) Shan et Yuan for the first time.A review on the fluorescence, UV, IR, NMR and MS characters of coumarins were summarized based on the spectral data of the related compounds isolated from the root of Angelica dahurica (Fisch. ex Hoffin.)
