Based on consulting ancient and modern documents, this article ascertains 8 heart system basic syndrome according to the physical and pathological characteristics of heart system, and the combined regulation of disease's location and disease's quality of heart system basic syndromes. The author investigates 1203 cases or clinic reports systematically which involved heart system basic syndromes, studies the criterion of the denomination, conception, and technical terms of heart system basic syndromes respectively, counts and ranks diagnostic information primarily, such as familiar symptoms, tongue appearances, pulses and so on.This study investigates retrospectively 945 cases taken randomly from Jiangsu Province Hospital of T.C.M. and clinic cases of Prof. Wuchengyu involved 8 heart system familiar syndromes. It uses SPSS statistical software, and deals the data with correspondence analysis, in order to search the symptoms closed to the familiar syndromes. With reference to the diagnostic information of the basic syndromes, such as familiar symptoms, tongue appearances, pulses and so on, it reduces to syndrome differentiation factors. After discussion of the rationality and essentiality of every syndrome differentiation factor, it establishes the diagnostic criteria of 8 heart system basic syndromes.The study of the heart system basic syndrome diagnostic criteria keeps to the rule of "syndrome differentiation based on the symptoms" and the combination of disease's location and disease's quality. Assembled this diagnostic criteria logically, it can contain a lot of complicated clinic syndrome. It embodies the systematism and expansibility of syndrome differentiation and the specificity and stability of syndrome, and accords with the clinic thinking. It provides the direction and methods of qualitative and quantitative research of traditional Chinese medical syndromes' criteria.
