Integrative Treatment Of Multiple Myeloma Observed

Our task is rely on the National Uniform Standard for diagnose and curative effect to develop"Complement Qi and Xue and supply the kidney"Chinese traditional medicine plus Thalidomide plus MP/M2/VAD by turns to treat multiple myeloma. And we hope to realize the"Complement Qi and Xue and supply the kidney"Chinese traditional medicine's treatment to multiple myeloma and discuss the suitable treatment with more effective response rate and longer survival and better life quality. This research is trying to set up a perfect therapy method to those elder men or those younger people who has lost the chance to bone marrow transplant.This thesis includes two parts, the literature summarize and the clinical observation research. The literature summarize contains two parts. The first one is the modern therapy evolvement of multiple myeloma which includes its concept, etiology, principium, prognosis, therapy status, expectation and the problems within the research. The second part is the research about the Chinese traditional medicine to treat with multiple myeloma which contains its pathogeny, therapy(the treatment applying with the pattern identification, special treatment and the combination treatment of Western medicine and Chinese tradi- tional medicine), expectation and the problems within the research.In the clinical trials we report the results of using"Complement Qi and Xue and supply the kidney"Chinese traditional medicine plus Thalidomide plus MP/M2/VAD by turns to treat multiple myeloma patients. We have chosen 27 MM patients which have integrated case history who were in DongFang hospital and DongZhiMen hospital which attached to the Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine during January the 1st ,1994 to January the 1st ,2007. And we observed their serum and urine M-protein, blood routine, Cr and BUN, serum calcium, bone marrow and X-ray display and their life self-dependence instances and so on. Results: the response rate of"Complement Qi and Xue and supply the kidney"Chinese traditional medicine plus Thalidomide plus MP/M2/VAD therapy is 71.4% which higher than the Chinese traditional medicine plus MP/M2/VAD therapy(P﹤0.05). These two therapies has a overall-survival of 21.8 and 12 months. The three- year survival and five-year survival is 28.6% and 15.4%, 7.1% and 0(P<0.05).Throught the study above, we could prove that the"Complement Qi and Xue and supply the kidney"Chinese traditional medicine plus Thalidomide plus MP/M2/VAD therapy's response rate is more effective than the Chinese traditional medicine plus MP/M2/VAD therapy. It is confirmed that thalidomide could improve the curative response rate in evidence. The Chinese traditional medicine participated in MM's therapy could enhance the response rate, mitigate the side effect of the chemotherapy, reverse the MDR, improve the life quality. So the more cases we captured , the more objective and accurate datas wo could obtained.
