Objective: The objective of this paper is to research the biocompatibility of self-prepared gilded Ni-Cu thermoseed, which has the potential application in tumor magnetic inductive hyperthermia. Methods: MTT assay was used to evaluate the in vitro cytotoxicity of its extra-liqiud; hemolysis test was carried out to estimate its blood toxicity ; with the muscular implant test in rabbits , the levels of tissue toxicity of gilded Ni-Cu thermoseed were examined. Results: The result of MTT assay showed that the toxicity of the material on mouse fibroblast (L-929) cell lines was 1 degree that belonged to no cytotoxicity. In hemolytic test , the hemolysis rat (HR) of gilded thermoseed was 3.25% less than 5%. So we concluded that gilded thermoseed had no hemolytic reaction, and they consistent with requirement of hemolytic test of biomaterials. The samples with muscular implant test which would influence the anti-inflammatory reaction to foreign bodies. Conclusions: From the results of our experiment ,we could consider the gilded thermoseed is a kind of high biocompatibility materials and perhaps is suitable for further application in tumor magnetic inductive hyperthermia.
