| The Health Care System of Macau was set up in the 1980s. However, it has made great progress and big achievements during the last 20 years. Based on the description of the evolution and the background of Macau's health care system, this thesis brings to light the fundamental rules and inherent logic governing the formation and development of Macau's health care system. It also analyzes the basic contents and the structural characters of Macau's health care system. As well, it brings forward some forecasts about the trends of Macau's health care system. Then it discusses the problems and the challenges faced by Macau's health care system. Finally, based on the enlightenment we can gain from the experience of Macau, this thesis will put forward several proposals for our medical care system reform.This thesis is divided into six parts: introduction and five chapters. The introduction tells us the contents and the significance as well as the research methodology, the structure and the overview of related literature. Chapter One gives the definitions of main terms and makes a summary of the core theories concerning health care system, which is also the basic tool of our analysis. Chapter Two briefly describes the general situation in Macau and reviews the historical development of the health care system. Also, the system of Macau is compared with the four main health care systems in the world. Chapter Three analyzes the basic framework of Macau's health care system including its organization and managing system, medical service's supporting system, money collecting and expenditure paying system. Furthermore, it gives the characters of Macau's health care system. Through statistic analysis and comparison with other countries and districts, it demonstrates the present medical benefits, utilization of resources and the amount of medical services. The special emphasis in Chapter Four focuses mainly on the analysis of the existing problems in Macau's health care system. Also, it attempts to bring forward some useful suggestions concerning the future reform of Macau. Chapter Five tells us what we can learn from the experience of Macau. |
