Professor Yang Guanlin has spent tens of years on the clinical and experimental study of vascular diseases. From the concept of holism in TCM, referring to the point of modern medicine, professor Yang first made the theory of Hemo-vascular-pathy based on the relevance between Hemo-vessel and vascular system. These provided a research idea on the diagnosis and cure of vascular disease by the theory and have achieved initial progress. Teacher Yang considers that phlegm and stasis are major contributing factors in Hemo-vascular-pathy. Phlegm turbidity, Phlegm causes stasis and Phlegm Accumulating with Stagnant Blood are the key pathogenesis of Hemo-vascular-pathy and throughout the entire lesion. So phlegm and stasis stay together is the pointcut in studding cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases applying Hemo-vascular Theory. This paper deeply studies Hemo-vascular Theory, which is the theoretical basis, and elaborates its content, the pathological developmental process of Hemo-vascular-pathy, and the importance of the Hemo-vascular Theory using in clinic diagnosis and treatment in Hemo-vascular-pathy. In Hemo-vascular system, Qi and blood is the fundamental substance, vascular is the mainstay. This system is closely related to the five internal organs and is mustered by the heart. Hemo-vascular system goes from vessel to collaterals, making the branches criss-cross. The whole system is divided into a hierarchical system. It connected with the Zang and Fu interiorly and connected with the skin and fur externally. Qi and blood were carried in this system and were transported to every corner of the body. This process makes Hemo-vascular system functions in maintaining normal blood circulation, nourishing and metabolism and participating in mental activity, thus making human body showed the balanced physiological state. According to the Hemo-vascular Theory, pulse-taking was found having a unique superiority in diagnosing the Hemo-vascular-pathy. Using traditional Chinese pulse-taking and the modern medical test methods in combination even more improves the clinical diagnosis. Hemo-vascular Theory also makes the treatment have better pertinency and makes the prevention have better foreseeability.
