In response to the great changes which have taken place in the 21st century's translation industry and profession, China introduced Master of Translation and Interpretation (hereafter referred as"MTI") into its translation education system in 2007. Aiming to train professional translation practitioners, MTI represents a milestone in China's translation education development and poses challenges to the traditional translation teaching models as well. By analyzing and summarizing the relevant academic researches in light of pragmatism translation theory and constructivism learning theory, and the practical experience of some outstanding translation teaching institutes outside the mainland of China, this thesis seeks to explore the features of MTI and develop a feasible MTI teaching model, i.e."project-based open translation teaching model".
