As a tool for communication,language mainly includes three aspects:pronunciation,vocabulary and grammar.Vocabulary to language is just as bricks to a building.It should be an important part in English teaching.The increase in vocabulary requirements of the new curriculum standard has brought new challenges to junior high school students as well.Although students spend a lot of time on vocabulary learning,the results of learning are not satisfactory.For students,one of the reasons for vocabulary learning difficulties is forgetting,but lack of effective vocabulary learning strategies is an important cause of forgetfulness.Therefore,in order to improve student vocabulary learning efficiency,discovering and exploring more vocabulary learning strategies is a pressing task.This paper studies junior English vocabulary teaching and learning supported by constructivism learning theory.First of all,this paper bases on concepts,explains the basic concepts of vocabulary and vocabulary teaching,and then introduces the type and value of vocabulary teaching and learning.Secondly,based on the basic view of constructivism learning theory,it explains its advantages in language learning and its necessity and suitability in vocabulary teaching and learning.Then,in order to know the current situation of English vocabulary teaching and learning in junior high school,the author conducted questionnaires and interviews with some students and teachers in junior high school.After the investigation,the author summarizes the survey data:The main cause of the difficulties in current junior middle school of English vocabulary teaching and learning is lack of effective strategies.Against this situation,the author summarizes the characteristics of English vocabulary teaching and learning from the perspective of constructivism learning theory and puts forward some effective vocabulary teaching and learning strategies,such as tracing the culture connotation of vocabulary,association semantic relationship between the words,word formation strategy,and communication activities strategy,etc.At the end of the article,the author hopes that both teachers and students can cooperate with each other,accepting new learning theories and exploring more different vocabulary learning strategies.This article combines constructivism learning theory with English vocabulary teaching and learning strategies,making vocabulary teaching and learning rooted in the fertile soil.It can not only help students to increase their learning confidence and improve the efficiency of vocabulary learning;but also can change the teachers,inherent ideas,enrich the teachers' theoretical knowledge,and make vocabulary teaching and learning become an easy and pleasing thing.
