This phenomenon is the generation of extreme textual criticism at the time, in which the revival and prosperity of the Epigraphy in the Qing Dynasty plays a direct role in promoting numismatics. At that time, the numismatics development had moved on from the slowly growing past, not only the number of reseachers had been greatly increased, but also a large number of coin books had been written. Meanwhile, the research methods of numismatics had become more scientific and sophisticated, the purpose of numismatics is more definite and clear. The study of numismatics led to a coin collecting fashion. At that time, the coin enthusiasts had paid a lot of effort for looking for cions, buying coins, collecting coins, and to appreciate coins, the exchange and communication between them is also very frequent, and this trend had promoted the further development of the study of numismatics.Since the revival of epigraphy in the Qing Dynasty and the publish of a large number of epigraphy books, therefore, in the bibliography of this period, the random and scaffered situation of the distribution of epigraphy books had been changed gradually, and became focused and independent. With the adjustment of epigraphy books in bibliography and the rapid development of the study of numismatics in the late Qing Dynasty, the location of coin books in the bibliography also changed greatly from the previous, tend to became unity and reasonable increasingly, and mainly accumulated in the "Jinshi category" of the History Department and the "Pulu category" of the Zibu Department. In addition, the explore of the attribution of coin books in the bibliography of Jinshi and the classification of coin books had also made some progress.The version of the coin books of the Qing Dynasty is complex and diverse. In various forms of release, the edition has the highest proportion. There are many good versions of them, but there are some bad ones either. The circulation of the coin books of manuscripts and transcripts was mainly due to the completion time of late and the shortage of printed edition. After the modern printing technology had been introduced to China, the number of coin books of photocopying, lithography, and Qianyin Ben was increasing,too.The coin books of the Qing Dynasty can be divided into three types, the general theory of books, the monograph of books, and the other coin books. The style and content of the general theory of coin books are mostly effected by the books of "Quan zhi" and "Qin ding qian lu". Although the specific arrangement of these books have their own different style, however, they are not very different in general. In terms of their content, apart from very few exceptions, the main part of most general theory of coin books are based on the bibliographic and textual research of coins as the center. The monograph of the coin books include the books limited with time (or region), the books limited with the category of coins,and the books focused on the explanation of the words on the coins. These different types of books showed the tendency of a specialized development in the study of numismatics in the Qing Dynasty. Most of the other coin books used the way of writing notes, according to the differences of the contents of these books, such books can be divided into three different categories, they are the books focused on the research of coins, the books focused on writing the main story of coins, and the books focused on the evaluation of coin books. However, the boundaries between these categories is blury. Besides the specialized coin books, there are a lot of content about numismatics in the books of many scholars in the Qing Dynasty, these elements are also an integral part of the literature of coins in the Qing Dynasty. |
