Sorrows And Joys, Into A Muddy: Lao She's Novel Of Emotional Experience And Aesthetic Style Theory

LaoShe created a world of novels, which is a fusion of tragedy and comedy. Reading them, we can perceive the tragic emotion, and in the meantime, we can also perceive the spice of humor that is of LaoShe .The fusion of LaoShe?s emotion and the style of aesthetic appreciation. I tried researching the tragic connotation, comic style and the world of art of a fusion of tragedy and comedy in the novels of LaoShe. The article treated the problems through three parts: Part one, the tragic connotation in the novels of LaoShe. The tragic speciality of the works of literature comes from the writer?s notion of tragedy. First of all , the notion came from his double-status , the subject of the Qing Dynasty and a man of the Man nation ;because his life was poor as a child and he knew the wretched destiny of poor people well ,LaoShe got the notion of tragedy on his sensibility ; and a large amount of works and theories he studied when he was in England as a teacher formed his own idea about tragedy. Additionally, LaoShe succeeded the modern idea of tragedy which has formed since the New Culture Movement. The tragic connotation in the novels of LaoShe have four kinds: the tragedy of destiny, of society, of culture and of hero. Part two, the style of comedy in the novels of LaoShe. First, 1 studied how LaoShe formed his notion of comedy. There are three causes: Both the experience of his early life and the personality and temperament affected by that experience formed his notion of humor. Because of some historical problem of the Man nation, LaoShe had its humorous temperament. The traditional culture of China, the happening and developing Chinese modem literature and the west literature of comedy all affected him. Second, I treated the theories about humor and sarcasm that LaoShe studied himself. Part three, the world of art being the fusion of tragedy and comedy in the novels of LaoShe. There is extensive background when he wrote these novels. The new literature advocated the tragedy, and then, there were a large number of writings which showed the dark of the society, the distress of life , the oppression of personality, and etc. On the one hand, ruthlessly, the writers ruined everything beautiful to the man in their serious writings. On the other hand, some other writers often added something comic to the tragedy, so that made the writings being the fusion of tragedy and comedy, which have the special value. Furthermore, the manner that LaoShe himself sensed the world also made his novels form the modality of art with that double emotion. He is a writer who wrote with his emotion and experience. He said that his wit always went before his emotion when writing. He was in a habit of sensing the world around him half-laughed and half-bated, then naturally, his writings are existed with tragedy and comedy. There are three character in his novels: first, the subject is to criticize the Chinese character; second, he cared the frame-work of his novels; third, he was a writer of great nalTative power.
