On The Payment Instalment Of The Shuihu Exploration Of Novel Writing Skills

Specific comment on novel is the common method in ancient literature criticism, such as on novels in Ming and Qing Dynasty by many reviewers. Jing S. T. is one of the most important reviewers in that time. Much research has been made on his comments on the first seventy chapters of Outlaws of the Marsh. However, the points of view of these researches are mainly from novel aesthetics, novel criticism and novel theory etc. After careful reading up Outlaws of the Marsh along with his comments, I found most of these comments are about writing skill. Much attention was paid to writing skill among his comments. Innovative, original views on writing skill were presented in these comments. This paper is the first research systematically on his comments about writing skill. Integrated with the finding by many researchers on Jin,S.T. comments, his comments were analyzed from the point of writing skill. The research was discussed in three parts: character-modeling skills, scenario-setting skills and language-expressing skills. It is expected that this research would be helpful in discovering and summarizing the Jing, S. T. great contributions on the theory of ancient novel writing skill. It is also hoped that this research will be helpful to writer in writing novel. The above describes the originality and the aim of the paper.
