Few works have been published on Xiong Nu being assimilated by Han. Mr Ma Chang shou and Lin Gan's works give us rough description from prosperity and declination of Xiong Nu's regime in central plains. Mr Zhou Wei zhou described disintegration of Xiong Nu tribal organization exhaustively and expounds political reason for Xiong Nu being assimilated by Han .It broke through generative description on this subject that former scholars did before and help people know better about the course of Xiong Nu being assimilated by Han. I expect to research on this subject from three levels of exchange of material, technology and culture between Xiong Nu and Han for better understanding of this subject. The paper is classified into two parts. In the first part, I narrate their material and technology exchange with methods of combination of history documents and archaeology and analyze their exchange tendency of material and technology. The second part is broken down into three levels which include Xiong Nu nationality characteristics, custom and other factors based on theory of cultural structure. In the first chapter, I generalize and analyze exhaustively Xiong Nu nationality characteristics and its declining tendency. The second and third part are broken down into seventeen subdivisions to analyze how each Xiong Nu cultural factor was assimilated by Han culture, so it will help deepen view of Xiong Nu being assimilated by Han.I put forward new idea of Xiong Nu's tendency to invade Han and analyze its relation with nationality assimilation. In the ending, I draw a conclusion that Xiong Nu's invasion accelerated its assimilation and the latter weakened the former.
