Simple Individual Intelligence Scale, Simplified Version Of The Trial And Amendments

The main task of our study is to revising and making a Simplified Chinese Character Version of Concise Individual Intelligence Scale (CHS-SC) which was developed by Prof. Wang Zhende, Chair of Department of Special Education of Taiwan Normal University. The whole process including three parts: trialing it in Shanghai, revising CIIS-SC based on the result of the trial, and then developing the referable norm for Shanghai urban area.First of all, basically unchanging the test items, the researcher trialed the CIIS-SC for the children aged 4-7 in Shanghai and collected the data. Then data analysis on various psychometric indexes (reliability and validity, item analysis) was carried out. The researcher also discussed the feasibility and availability of using the scale in Shanghai. It would be formed the basis of following revising work.Second, the researcher verified and re-tested the CIIS-SC twice according to the result of the trial. Revising a test could save much time and effort, but it is also a complete process of re-creation rather than simply copying the original test. The researcher not only edited the items, but also changed the scoring methods and standards for some items. Furthermore, the subjects' age of the test was enlarged and the CIIS-SC is now suitable for the children aged from 4 to 8 and a half years old.Finally, the researcher developed the referable norm of the CIIS-SC in Shanghai urban area. Because of this work, the scale can be used as an intelligence assessment tool in the practical field of psychological testing and special education in Shanghai urban area right now.The results of this research can provide a set of valid and convenient intelligence test instrument for identifying, diagnosing, and assessing special children with mental retardation, learning disability and development disorder. This research not only just satisfied the need of such kinds of tests in China, but also is a critical step which bring in the Concise Individual Intelligence Scale from Taiwan to main land of China. It is a good base for corporation between both sides of the straits in the field of psychological and educational testing, especially in special education.
