Ming And Early Qing Romances Wit Image Study

The novels about CaiZi and JiaRen that rised in the late of Ming dynasty and the early of Qing nasty are school of novel,and that exerted more broader influence.They not only have common pattern of structure,but also reflect a kind of social trend in thought and content.CaiZi are a kind of images that the authors depicted emphatically.The images took root in the tradition and reflected the authors' ideals ,characteristic style ,soil features of the time.By making inquiries into the reasons of the images' taking shape we can know the scholars' value system and the attitudes towars lives during that period, Wu and Yue region's cultural tradition.and environment,the emergence of new factors about economics and thoughts,which affected scholars at that time.The thesis devided into three chapters.The first chapter discussed the basic features of CaiZi's images in the respects of talent and appearance,moral character and conduct,the attitudes towards imperial examinations,the concept about love and marriage,and so on.The second chapter analyzed the images' inheritance and developments.By tracing back and comparing I prove the images can't break themselves away from tradition,and they possessed new characteristics in that periods.The third chapter analyzed the reasons of the images' taking shape.By analying the conditions of economic,politics,culture,the culture and national personalities of Wu and Yue regions ,the scholars' living style , the authors' status and mentality we can see the reference by the writers to the images of talented young scholars in the cultural tradition which have esthetic and cultural connotation,and the writers' identification with the talented young scholar and unruly gentlemen of his time in personality and style and the state of mind of the writers at work,which affected the depict of the images of CaiZi.
