Do Not Be A Vision: Lu Xun And Children's Literature

LuXun, as a Chinese giant, has reached a summit in modern history of literature and ideology. Because of his image of national soul, his position in modern history of literature is unsurpassed. This thesis tries to demonstrate LuXun's importance in modern children's literature from the angle of children's literature. It also provides a new cultural Ken to better comprehend Lunxun's works.This dissertation gives us a historical background by introducing the Foreign Children's Concept, the fission of the Chinese Children's Concept influenced by the foreign one and the process of the rising of the "May 4th" new Children's Concept. It elaborates a set of propositions initiated by LuXun's theory about Children's Literature. They are the Children-Centered View that is to discover and understand children, the Children's Education View that is to respect and liberate children and the Children's Literature View that is to concern for these children and mold their taste. On the basis of it, I analyses LuXun's initiative literary practice for children from his works full of lively breathing children's image, his pioneering translation of children's literature and what he has done practically for children.By this it proves that in Chinese modern children's literature, LuXun, as a pioneer, unprecedented strides forward for its emergence not only from the view of theoretical proportion, but also of creative practice. Further more, we can conclude that because LuXun's Children Literature is on the basis of the respect of children's personality, places children on the double fulcrum of our nation and future, and faces the real call of the Chinese reality, it becomes the alarm bell to urge on the age, leads the spiritual direction of children's literature, and decides the results that Chinese modern literature will follow LuXun's developing direction of "Life First" and "Education First".
