| Islam first came to India subcontinent in the early 7th century In 1206, the Mamluk Turk Qutbuddin Aibak became the first Muslim to rule any part of India, since then, India was under Muslim rule for about 600 years. Now, Muslim has become the second largest religious group in India. The Muslim people constitute 12.4% of the Indian's total population. People usually call Muslims, Christians, Buddhist and other non-Hindus religious group the religious minorities. Therefore, Muslims is the largest religious minority group in India. And in common parlance, the term "minority" is generally understood to be equated with the Muslims, as Muslims are disadvantaged in both population and socio-economic status. Economical backward relate to the education backward, and the education backward must confine the economical growth. Therefore, we should first improve the Muslim education so as to change the Muslim currently backward socio-economical conditions.This paper has been divided into three periods to analyze Indian Muslim education with the following chapters:Firstly, the introduction mainly includes research background, the meaning of choosing this question, the methods and the definition of the main concept as well as summary of related literature.Chapter one presents a view of social situation in ancient and medieval India under the Muslim rulers. Then we talk about thedevelopment and characteristics of the Muslim educational system in medieval India.Chapter two introduces the social situation and the education development of Indian in British period, and then a detailed discussion is made on the development of Muslim education in this period.Chapter three is the mainly part of this paper. This chapter presents an overview of Indian Muslim education. A thorough analysis of constitutional provisions for minorities, financial and non-financial grievances of the minority managed educational institutions has been undertaken for a clear perception of Indian minority education development. Then it proceeds to focus upon the Indian Muslim education. The reasons of Muslim education backwardness is been discussed and some suggestions is included.Chapter four is the conclusion part of this paper. It is the review of India Muslim education and some suggestions to China ethnic education. |
