Through the philosophy of existentialism, the convergence of the subjects, figures and modernistic literature is revealed, with the short stories of the Jewish-American writer B·Malamud being analyzed in this dissertation. What's more, the feature of modernistic literature in the technique and style of the stories is also studied. The short stories of B·Malamud demonstrate the homeless, miserable, and mentally disturbing life of modern Jewish-Americans, which is shared by people in the 20th century. The loss of traditional values and the dissimilation between people and people, people and the world, and in themselves are the great cost for both the Jewish and modern people as well when moving on to the new world. This justifies B·Malamud's "Everyone is a Jewish". B·Malamud is good at disclosing the inner world of the characters. By using transferring perspectives and creating anti-heroes through irony, B·Malamud's style is much similar to the Literature of Black Humor.
