Modern Chinese Starting Point Preposition Study

The research of this dissertation is the starting point preposition. This article inspects the nature, the grammatical meaning of the starting point preposition, the syntactic function and distribution of the starting point prepositional phrase, the functional difference of each starting point preposition, the origin and its grammaticalization process, conditions of the starting point preposition and so on.The first chapter introduces the object of the research, the purpose and methods of the research, the original of corpus and the current studying situation of the topic.The second chapter analyzes the grammatical meaning of the starting point preposition and the grammatical function of the starting point prepositional phrase. First, we discuss the definition of grammatical meaning, and then analyze the grammatical meaning of the starting point preposition. Second, we analyze the syntactic function and distribution for the starting point prepositional phrase, it may be serving as the complement, the subject and attributive except serving as the adverbial. The end, we analyzes the functional difference of each starting point preposition, the differences express not only the syntax, but also the collocation, the pragmatic, the monosyllabic word, the disyllable word and so on.The third chapter observes and analyzes the starting point preposition from the diachronic aspect. On the basis of fully analyzing the diachronic corpus, we describe the development condition of each starting point preposition in detail, and then we get the trace of engendering, developing of each starting point preposition.In chapter four, we explain in terns of the grammaticalization theory. There are two grammaticalization clines, they are the noun-to-affix cline and the verb-to-affix cline. And then we believe that reanalysis and analogy are the mechanisms of the starting point preposition, meanwhile the grammaticalization of the starting point preposition is also affected by some factors, such as the cognitive, subjectivisation and frequency effects.Finally is the conclusion that summarize the major points proposes in the article.
