Every action or behavior of man has the "cause". The cause results in thecorresponding effect. This is causal relationship which makes man perfectunceasingly. The connection between cause and effect is the general connection ofobjective world. There are great deals of causal sentences which reflect suchrelationship in language. This thesis begins with the scope of causal relationship andthe general situation of the research, and then has a study in the aspects of thedefinition of causal expression, semantic categories of causal expression, internalmeaning, form sign, expression pattern and expression methods of the two languages. The study indicates the difference and the same of "cause" in Korean and Chineseand gives the corresponding explanation.Chapter one is the introduction, which introduces the purpose and significance, content and scope, methods and the previous survey. According to past research, theresearch methods in the academic circle of Korean and Chinese are different, andChinese emphasizes internal relationship of cause and effect while Korean has beenemphasizing the study of formation of words which indicate "cause", and finds thisnew kind of words constantly.Chapter Two mainly define the "causal" expressions of Korean and Chinese. Onthe one hand, this thesis contrasts Korean with Chinese as well as analyzing thesemantic categories of "causal" expression of the two languages from macroscopicperspective. Chinese includes generality, supposition, condition, purpose, deductionand time interval. On the other hand, we divide "causal" sentences of Korean andChinese into explanation and deduction, cause before effect and effect before cause, emotional color and time from microcosmic perspective.Chapter Three is pattern of "causal" expression of Korean and Chinese."Clausal Pivot" is the basic background of theory and contrast Korean with Chinesein the aspect of "causal" expression. We have the first syntactic structure of causalsentence, the second syntactic structure of causal sentence and the third syntacticstructure of causal sentence as a meridian, and have semantic disposition as aparallel, and then conduct research through different levels and perspectives in greatdetail. Chapter Four contrasts the methods of "causal" expression of Korean andChinese generally and systematically. Such kind of expression in Korean andChinese has two methods: One is Parataxis, the other is Hapotaxis. Parataxis has noform sign or special form sign. Parataxis has two main methods: One is word order, the other is context. Hapotaxis has special form sign as the method, and the mainsigns are conjunctions which indicate "cause", and also include other methods (themethods of syntactic structures and sign symbols, and so on).Chapter Five is concluding remarks. It sums up the opinion of the thesis andpoints out the deficiency of the thesis.
