This paper analyzes the conceptual structure of "Nouveau Realisme" as an art historical term through the profound reading to the texts remained by Pierre Restany. The paper holds, Nouveau Realisme should not be regarded as a pure style concept or artistic movement, but including the aborative construction of the theorists and the official cultural strategies. Subsequently, in the next part, passing the crossed research to Nouveau Realisme and the "spectacle" theory of Guy Debord, comes the exploration of the connotative critical structure of consumption culture, then revealing the remarkable intimate relationship between practice and theory in the process of the postmodern turn: development in art area affect the postmodern theory, while the tendency of theory has been clarified by the artistic movements. Thus it can be seen, the occurrence of Nouveau Realisme in the 1960s was not accidental, but the potent responses to the consumerism, just as the criticism to the daily life appeared in postwar European. Meanwhile the artistic practice and principles of Nouveaux Realistes had constituted the indispensable components to the process of the postmodern turn in 1960s.
