Duan Yucai, his formal name Ruoying, his literary name Maotang, was born in Jintan, Jiangsu province. He is an expert of China's Qing Dynasty, not only in Classics, but also in Chinese Characters and Phonology. He reads many books and writes many academic works; his study turns to Xiaoxue (the study of ancient Chinese Characters, Phonology, and Lexicon) from the Classics. In the area of Xiaoxue, his study turns to Characters and Exegesis again from Phonology. His foundation is rich and can grasp the essence. In his book Explanation Note, its style is great and its mind is fine. Therefore, he has won great achievements. Duan Yucai not only runs through the book the explanation of the words, makes detailed notes and exposes the true value of the research of the book on the text, sound, exegesis to be exhaustive, but also creates many meanings for the study of Semantics, and explores new contents and the new portal for the development of Chinese Scholium. Formerly, the study of the Explanation Note focused on exegesis, text, vocabulary, phonology, culture, compiled dictionaries etc. such as the Ordinance of Voice Explanation Commentary of Shuowenjiezi Note, An analysis of statements of MR.Duan Yucai on usage of past and current words, the research and application on the ancient text of Duan Yucai's Shuowenjiezi Note, Duan Yucai's Shuowenjiezi Note view on the rolling word, the Ancient pronunciation Principle And Uses of Duan Yucai's Shuowenjiezi Note, Cultural Interpretation of Shuowenjiezi Note, Shuowenjiezi Note and compiled dictionaries and so on. From this point of view of collation, the study is still thin, the author starts with this essay, expresses the views for the wonders of academic exploration. Explanation Note makes the explanation of the words, besides, it also points out a number of errors of the poetry ,Mao's Biography, and Note of Zheng, in a total of 58 characters under the address, the author writes for an inquiry on this part of the contents. First of all, the author states original text of poetry and the related views of Mao's Biography and Note of Zheng; then, quotes literature reference books, collects the viewpoint of ancient and modern times; finally, the author makes short-sighted views, and divides these contents into three sections: right, wrong and non-proper. The first section includes 15 words; the second section includes 17 words; the third section includes 19 words, remaining 7 words undecided. In addition, Note of Duan uses some other terms in the collation in addition to some general terms in other academic works in the school with Poems,Biography and Note of Zheng. The author makes a summary of the terminology in the thesis and combs the method of the collation.
