The emergency of free bass accordion, which broadened the range of repertoires played on accordions, made it possible to accurately master polyphonic works created by composers like Bach. However, improvements of instruments can only provide players with solid "material" conditions; in order to vividly and properly interpret such polyphonic musical works with complex structures and rich connotations, it will need various in-depth study and research.This essay takes "#f minor prelude and fugue" as an example, to analyze various ways of playing Bach's works with free bass accordions. The first section of this essay briefly illustrates the impacts that the emergency of free bass accordions had on playing polyphonic works. The second section discusses methods of performing, including dividing clauses, arrangement of finger movements, touching keys, mastering bellows and playing strength. The last part summarizes training methods of playing polyphonic works.
