Henry fielding, one of the greatest English novelists of 18th century, is the founder of the English realistic novels. The theory and artistic form of his novels play an important role in the history of the European literature in 1800s; his novel——the history of Tom Jones, a foundling, is regarded as a paragon of the English realistic novels in 18th century. In this thesis, starting from four of Henry Fielding' s works——The history of the Adventures of Joseph Andrews, the life of Mr. Jonathan wild, the Great, the history of Tom Jones, a foundling, and Amelia, the author tries to analyze and appreciate the theory and the artistic form of Henry fielding's novels, expecting a deeper insight of his theory and a better understanding of his works.
