Objective: To examine the correlation between middle school students' self-concept and the evaluation by significant others and the differences between the city and the country.Methods: The Piers-Harris Children's Self-concept Scale(PHCSS), Parenting Style Scale, Peer Nomination Method and Percepting Teacher Evaluation Scale was used as questionnaires of this study. And the PHCSS was revised as the teachers evaluation scale. Samples of 930 middle school students from junior 1 to junior 3 of the city and the country separately.Results: 1.From this inquisition the middle school students of the city and the country,their self-concepts develop very well,every items score is similar as the same age in China city common model that was established by Sulinyan etc.2000.2. There are significant differences among grades on middle school students' behavior ,body ,anxiety and satisfaction,grade 8 is the key period of self-concept development ;The middle school students' self-concept development exist sex difference,female students' self-concept is higher than male students' self-concept except anxiety; middle school students' self-concept is more and more small on only child,there are significant differences among peer styles on middle school students' self-concept too,that is the welcomed students' self-concept is better than the refused students' self-concept.3.There are significant source differences on self-concept, parenting style, student percepting teacher evaluation and the results tell us that the students of city are better than the country. 4.There are significant correlation between middle school students' self-concept and parenting style; there are significant correlation between students percepting teacher evaluation too; there are significant differences among peers on middle school students' self-concept.5.There are significant differences on parenting style and students percepting teacher evaluation forecasting to middle school students' self-concept,parenting style of the country does more contribute to students' self-concept than the city,but no help; teachers of the country do more help to the students' self-concept than the city and it is more useful to help middle school students form better even best self-concept.
