Through A Sense Of Cognitive Interpretation

With the development of cognitive linguistics, synaesthesia is not only regarded as a rhetorical device but also a basic mode of thinking and action in a cognitive way, featuring the mapping between two or among many different sensorial fields. The thesis mainly concerns about the research on synaesthesia metaphor from the cognitive perspective and demonstrates amply that synaesthesia metaphor is embodied in the human cognition and a special type as well, which is also a tool for human beings to understand the surrounding world and form conceptions from aspects of cognitive linguistics, psychology, physiology and neurology. From the perspective point of view, in the process of synaesthesia metaphor, the empathy of embodied mind precipitates the production of imagination between two or among many different aesthetic feelings and drives the formation of synaesthesia metaphor. This thesis analyzes features of the mapping of synaesthesia metaphor by Conceptual Metaphor, and explicates that the mapping is from the low-level sensorial form to the high-level sensorial form and from the more accessible concept to the less accessible concept. And the mapping is unidirectional.
