Ang Lee's films, which receive far-ranging attention because of its special visual angle and tensile force on representing form, reflect his personal consideration on how the Chinese traditional culture exist and develop under the globalisation background. His works exhibit his extensive culture ascription consciousness and lay him under the obligation upon culture transmission. This thesis brings cultural criticism into researching and opens out the consistentness between Ang Lee's art practice and Chinese cultural character gradually. It sums up how the culture tradition reply the modern transfer and disscusses how Ang Lee's cultural points influence Chinese films from the point of view of culture transmission and extension as well.The precondition of Ang Lee's culture ascription is his individual excursion and national ascription. For part of Ang Lee, who posesses mulriple cultural identity, "native land" is used in a general sense of whole Chinese image, Ang Lee's Formosa's characteristic is blurry, as a result, he shows solicitude for Chinese traditional culture in his films and makes them pan-chinese. Ang Lee's personal life nurture and character determines his films' aesthetic quality which is gentilesse, honest and sincere. The display of neutralisation aesthetics shows that he is an inheritor of traditional aesthetics.From the view of diachronic culture development, Ang Lee takes the occidental culture as a mirror and ponders the Chinese traditional culture. He wants to reshape and refresh the traditional culture by the appropriate backwash effect of heterogeneity cultural resources. From the synchronic identification of culture development, Ang Lee does not to shape the Chinese image purposely in occidentals' fabrication. On the contrary, he introduces Chinese culture with great originality. He inherits the traditional culture and expands it in the concerto of culture and art.
