Mendelssohn's First Piano Concerto And Research

Germany composer Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy received strict music training since the childhood. His life and creation process were very smooth,so his works style was beautiful and poetic. He concentrated on the study of the classical music,making its music style graceful as the classical musical music.He created elegant poetry in the careful structure layout. In his short life, he made a living by writing with no stop, leaving a great deal of works, the forms involved with symphony, overture, oratorio, piano works and other works.His symphony were famous as for his《symphony no.3"Scotland"》,《symphony no.4"Italy"》. As for piano works《Songs without words》should be his famous one which is created by him.This form became one of the important forms in 19th century. These works display the composer's characteristics and style as an early romantic musician, which occupied an important role in musical history.Comparing to《Songs without words》, Mendelssohn's piano concerto (no.1) is not so famous that is often ignored in the concerts and competitions. Thesis takes the《piano concerto (no.1)》as the research objects, relying on the literature, audio material and related documents, though the experience of the performance to analyze the characteristics of this work.the《piano concerto (no.1)》is the works of his youth. Though not mature as his later ones, the features of his creation are displayed. He cancelled the double exposition, to combine the cadenza and music together. He made the three movimento continuously and made them to be a whole. The success of his later works was showed here to some extent.Some articles and books of Mendelssohn and his music were issued and published both home and abroad. They did research on different aspects, while most of the articles are the research on《Songs without words》or the whole introduction of his artistic features. The research of his concerto is relatively less.This thesis will explore his creation and artistic features on the Form,Harmonie, Texture and piano technique. Especially on the skill of piano , besides the inheritance , his works have the tendency of the features of the medium and late period of the Romanticism. More attractions and understanding of Mendelssohn's concerto could be achieved by the thesis.
