While creating a glorious and brilliant cultural art, people in the west ofHunan province also create a different kind of folk music -Miao ethnic group's folk song. It is an important part in Miao people's daily life which used to express one's emotion thoroughly.From the history, geographical conditions and customs, this thesis discusses the music characteristics of Miao song in tune structure, character of rhythm, mode and melody based on the first hand data and second hand data. Scholars in and abroad have been studied a lot in the characteristic of Miao group's song, and publish some paper in this field. But some shortages exit in the characteristic of singing, also without width and depth. Some related research paper and certain chapters in some books refer to this field rarely, shortly or lightly. So the writer discusses the singing method and technique of Miao folk-songs, the language feature of singing, ruiqiang chenci chenqiang carefully and comprehensively.
